Lake Park Cemetery
Lake Park Cemetery is located five miles east, two miles north and three-fourths mile east of Madison in Section 30 of Rutland Township. A Norwegian Lutheran congregation was formed in 1839. Four acres of land were donated by C.J. Porter for the church and a cemetery. A wooden frame church was erected in 1800. In 1945 the church building was moved to Rutland. At that time a Cemetery Association was formed. Final incorporation took place in 1975. Through donations an endowment fund has been established for perpetual maintenance. The first person buried there was Mali T. Volden, aunt of Peter Moen, in 1893.NAME |
